Two managing partners of specialty law firms, who had worked together in the past, had an opportunity to collaborate on a year-long appointment. However, when they previously worked at the same firm, they swore they would never work together again.
The appointment was such an interesting and lucrative work opportunity that they agreed to a facilitation with key members of both firms to consider the collaboration.
A foundational element to the discussion was to clear lingering issues harbored for almost a decade. The facilitation was structured around their strengths, reactions, stressors, motivators and many of the tendencies which initially had caused the hard feelings. Strategies about how to address any future disagreements and work projects were discussed to all parties’ satisfaction.
With this in mind, they agreed to collaborate and bid for the project. After an extensive interview process, they successfully competed against 28 firms and were awarded the project.
