One of the most valuable frameworks to improve teamwork is through the domains of emotional intelligence identified by Daniel Goleman, PhD and Richard Boyatzis, PhD: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. Goleman defines emotional intelligence as the capacity to recognize the impact our feelings have on ourselves and our reactions to people and situations. By learning to manage our emotions and our responses, we can tune into the feelings of those around us and create an atmosphere that invites open communication. Emotional intelligence is a set of skills and with practice and feedback, behaviors can be recognized and changed. The Everything DiSC® Workplace® Profile can enhance individuals’ understanding of themselves as well as offer a way to understand others. This leads to greater empathy in the workplace, as well as the development of skills to lead and manage teams.
Productive Conflict
Conflict in the workplace is inevitable. How you handle it makes all the difference. The Everything DiSC® Productive Conflict profile helps people improve their self-awareness around conflict behaviors and provides techniques to curb destructive behaviors and effectively respond to conflict situations. The program features an exploration of DiSC® in a conflict context, provides an opportunity for participants to explore their destructive conflict responses, and offers them a method for making more productive choices in their response to conflict.
In a Productive Conflict workshop, participants learn their own DiSC style and how to interact in conflict with people with different DiSC styles. They will explore common destructive responses to conflict and why they and others might react this way. In addition, participants practice stepping back from and reframing their unhealthy thought patterns, allowing them to choose more productive responses to conflict.
