Professional Experience

Eric Hutchison's background includes almost 30 years of professional experience and 20 years of teaching undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. During his professional career in the financial industry (1995-2015), he led teams responsible for national branding, product development, strategy and distribution, and mergers and acquisitions. He started Hutchison Consulting in 2015 and currently employs industrial and organizational psychology practices to support organizations seeking to attract the best and brightest candidates, develop employees, and align people with strategies. Eric earned his BBA in Marketing from Kent State University and an MBA from Otterbein University while working for JPMorgan Chase (Bank One). After leaving the corporate sector, he completed an MS and a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Walden University. As a part-time faculty member at Antioch University, Franklin University, Otterbein University, Park University, and George Mason University, his roles include professor, course designer, and advisor for internships and research. Eric recently completed seven years on the Board of Directors for the Huckleberry House and four years as an officer of the Great Lakes Chapter of the International Personnel Assessment Council (IPAC). He is an active member in the governance system of the Athletic Club of Columbus and several professional organizations. These include the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychologists (SIOP), the Society of Consulting Psychologists (SCP), and the Society for Criminal and Police Psychologists (SPCP). Eric has presented research on community participation in police officer selection at three international conferences (SPCP 2019; SIOP 2020, 2021). He is currently partnering with other researchers to conduct studies on the impact of community involvement in police officer selection, occupational wellness for behavioral health workers, and cultural competence in the workplace.
